Throughout the pandemic, different alternatives have been developed to reduce the possibility of contagion, the symptoms and the consequences that covid-19 can cause.

Proof of this are mesenchymal cells, a type of stem cells that are obtained from elements such as the umbilical cord and that are already used in Mexico to treat the ravages that the coronavirus left in recovered patients.

In an interview for MILENIO, Ricardo Rangel Martínez, a biologist specializing in Regenerative Medicine, indicated that this treatment allows the lungs to regenerate faster and inhibits the 'cytokine storm', a concept that in medical jargon refers to an uncontrolled reaction of the immune system against diseases such as covid-19.

"An injection is made with millions of mesenchymal cells and that allows a patient in a delicate state to improve but also promotes the regeneration of lung tissues"
